I Made a PVE mesmer - Nerf them plz, they're too good ^^
Joking about the nerf.
I rolled a new PVE mesmer today and am thoroughly impressed with its awesomeness. I can rain hundreds of points worth of armor ignoring damage onto the mobs, and interupt too.
So far im only lvl 13 and started in NF, but have 0 deaths and tomed my way to a decent skill bar:
Cry of frustration, cry of pain, empathy, mistrust, E surge, E burn, drain ench, ether feast (panic button for surviving).
Does anyone know where its easy to farm XP for for survivor after lvl 20? E surge is my only elite so far btw, a guildie gave me a free elite tome.
I also have clumsiness and wandering eye and will try them after I get more Illusion skills.

If your allegiance rank is high enough Ether Nightmare might be a good skill to add to your bar
For the survivor grind, try the Punch out game in eotn (I don't think it has been nerfed yet)

Kilroy Stonekin's dungeon, hard mode.
And Cry of Pain is kinda epic. An 8 mesmer team blowing up mobs with 800 damage right off is pretty lol

As you progress you'll find that yeah, mesmers can do hundreds of points of armor ignoring damage, and/or royally screw up the opposition... but mainly to one enemy at a time. You'll also find you're the second-highest priority target for every enemy mob, but unlike monks your tankability is about equal to that of a bowl of jell-o and your self-heal, ether feast, is pretty much like pissing on a forest fire.
I love playing mesmer, it is immensly satisfying to land a skill combo on someone, you can almost see the frustration like smoke coming out of their ears... but the single-target focus and the fact that you can spec against casters OR against melee, not both, really make it the weakest profession in PvE.
But yeah, it's fun to play.

If you die in punchout it doesnt count as a death?
Also do deaths in PVP count or can I safely farm Zaishen?
I havnt made any progress on my factions titles yet, so cant use factions PVE skills.
Numa this is a PVE mesmer not a PVP. I dont think the AI mobs prioritise attacking mesmers first. I used to play mesmer plenty in HA and GVG, and still do in arenas, hence why I wanted a PVE one.

When your health drops to 0 in punchout, you're 'knocked out' - you don't die. You only actually die (and get +1 to death count) if you can't refill your energy with "Stand Up" while knocked out.
and PvP deaths count, yeah.

If you do not tap the keys fast enough in Punchout then you will die and lose survivor , PvP deaths also count as a 'real' death.

Ok, so after a few knockouts and when a refill would take too long I just quit?
But you do get +1 death if you dont refill in time in the knockout dungeon right?
NVM was answered above ^^

Yup.
It's a non-issue tbh though - pressing the '8' key and clicking the skill icon at the same time fills it up incredibly fast. If you're a pansy, you can even turn on Num Lock and hammer both '8' keys as well as mouse-clicking
I've been quite comfortable on ~70 energy on Kilroy's and not had to break a sweat.

If you die on them, it will be on purpose.

I dont do anything that requires runs or other people at all, HFF looks pointless to me. I'll do punchout.

HFF doesn't use other people...
And Punchout will consist of doing "runs".

HFFF is ridiculously easy, and you get 2000 exp for a quest that takes less than a minute.

No, actually; setting a macro key to spam 8 while pressed will result in your game freezing for a few seconds and then disconnecting - and disconnecting in Fronis Irontoe's Lair causes you to automatically die. So it's basically suicide. The only exception is if you just tap it for a fraction of a second, in which case you'll get about 15 energy in less than a second. But it's very risky.

No, like he said: they prioritise them second. Which is still not good, given how squishy mesmers are.

AI mobs dont prioritise targets do they? They attack randomly.
If I DC in puchout even when I'm alive I still get a death? Thats not too good then because my internet connection is really dodgy atm.

They prioritize based on armor and health. Not sure if they still consider regeneration or not.

Yes. I suggest waiting until it clears up.
